Life at Mission Australia

When you join the team at Mission Australia, you become part of a community who are determined to end homelessness and ensure people in need can thrive. United by our Christian purpose and values, we stand together with anyone who needs us, for as long as they need us.

Your Opportunity

Join Mission Australia as a Business Development Officer and be part of a dedicated team committed to securing national, state and local funding that supports our transformative programs. In this role, you will prepare both government tenders and proactive proposals, playing a vital role in crafting high-quality submissions that drive our growth across Community Services, Housing, and other divisions.

Collaborating with subject matter experts, you will conduct thorough market research and manage the entire bid process, ensuring that each submission meets the highest standards. We offer several exciting opportunities at varying levels of seniority, making this an ideal time to advance your career in a meaningful way.

If you are passionate about turning funding opportunities into impactful solutions and are eager to contribute to real change, we invite you to join our team and make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Analyse tender specifications to understand funder objectives and drivers, ensuring alignment with Mission Australia’s goals.

  • Collaborate with leaders from Community Services, Housing, and other divisions to prepare bid content, create project plans, and mitigate risks.

  • Write compelling tenders, grants, and proposals that meet high standards and adhere to funder requirements and Mission Australia’s style guide.

  • Maintain and manage systems, processes, CRMs, and Microsoft Teams sites to support efficient bid development.

  • Coordinate input from internal stakeholders, including finance, legal, and service delivery teams, for comprehensive submissions.

  • Conduct research, gather evidence, and use data to support service models and enhance tender and proposal quality.

Requirements for Success:

  • At least 2 years experience in tender writing or business development within the community services or community housing sectors.

  • A qualification in business, communications, community sector or a related field (preferred).

  • Strong writing, editing, analytical thinking, and project management skills, with a proven track record of successful tender submissions.

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Strong time management, organisational skills, and initiative in overseeing tenders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a strong personal alignment with Mission Australia’s values and culture.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Our innovative and inclusive culture will ensure you feel valued at Mission Australia as you help Australians in need and develop in your career.
