Your Opportunity


Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? In this role, you'll be the superhero for kids aged 0-18 who are navigating mental health challenges. Your mission is to jump in early, offering dynamic support and practical solutions to both children and their families. You'll provide hands-on assistance, create tailored plans, and ensure every family receives the comprehensive care they need. Your key responsibilities will be to:


  • Respond to referrals or approaches to the service from internal programs, other services, families or individuals

  • Schedule and conduct assessment sessions with whole families or individuals that is collaborative, and client driven at Mt Druitt office and if needed, in an outreach environment including home visitation and schools

  • Organize, advertise, tailor, and facilitate relevant group programs for children and families related to building resilience, emotional management, education on mental health in a variety of locations

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of the needs of the family to determine the continuing need for counselling services and referral to other services as required

  • Develop action plans, ongoing reviews of plans and exit plans throughout the case management process with the family

  • Collate and prepare a range of statistical reports and other program information for lodgement with management and funding agency




Requirements for Success


  • Relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Mental Health

  • An understanding of child and adult mental health needs

  • Demonstrated experience in working therapeutically in partnership with children and their families

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating groups (with children and with adults)

  • Ability to network and develop effective working relationships at all levels of the community (including vulnerable, disadvantaged and multicultural families)

  • Willingness to work from a strength based, solution focused perspective

  • High level of written and oral communication skills

  • Competent in using computer packages such as Microsoft Office including Outlook

  • Current driverโ€™s licence




Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
