The Ministry Support Team hosts the SRE Office on behalf of the Archbishop, and provides training and accreditation for throughout the diocese for Primary School SRE teachers. It also provides advisory, training and coaching services, conferences, strategic planning and resources to churches and their leaders regarding children’s and youth ministry.
The Advisor will be responsible for advocating for the importance of ministry to children; supporting local church ministry, Anglican SRE Teachers and leveraging the ministry resources within the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands and southern Sydney region.
- Strengthen Primary School SRE amongst Anglican churches
- Create and deliver high quality training for SRE teachers and ministry leaders
- Strengthen children’s ministry amongst Anglican churches
- Regular reading and writing on issues relating to ministry to children’s and Primary School SRE
- Participate in various Youthworks internal and external conferences throughout the year
- Lecture at Youthworks College and assist in mentoring students, recruitment and job placement
- Qualifications in Theology – preferably Bachelor of Theology, minimum Diploma.
- Experience as a Children’s minister in a Sydney Anglican Church or similar – at least 3 years’ experience
- Experience in teaching Primary School SRE – at least 3 years’ experience
- Willingness to travel approx. 3-4 weeks a year outside of Sydney to train and support in other locations
- A personal Christian faith and willingness to work within an Anglican organisation
- Commitment to participating in a local Christian church
- Commitment to work with Youthworks’ mission across the various arms of the organisation.
Remuneration is in line with Diocesan Guidelines and subject to qualifications and experience.
