Youthworks is seeking a Communications Specialist to join our Communications team. The Communications team is the ‘voice’ of Youthworks and is responsible for developing communications and public relations strategies that effectively share Youthworks’ key messages and ensure a consistent brand presence across all of Youthworks’ ministry teams in all channels. This is expressed through brand management and media relations, as well as the development of collateral, websites, social media and internal communications.


About the role


The Communications Specialist will be responsible for helping build engagement with Youthworks’ vision among current and future staff, customers, supporters, and the general public in all channels.


Your responsibilities



  • Identifying and collecting stories and testimonies for appeals, campaigns, newsletters and other communications

  • Copywriting and content editing for campaigns, media releases, ministry articles and other communications

  • Assisting in creating, managing and reporting on digital campaigns

  • Assisting with other corporate communications where necessary

  • Creating, refreshing and updating web and social content

  • Coordinating social media content—including measuring and reporting engagement



You will need to demonstrate



  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Marketing or PR, or 2+ years of equivalent professional experience

  • Excellent written communications skills and ability to write for different audiences and channels

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to quickly establish rapport with interview subjects to collect on-message resources

  • Excellent organisational and project coordination skills, ability to manage multiple set deadlines and be flexible to changes in priority

  • Strong research and analytical skills, particularly ability to report and draw insights from web and social analytics

  • Willingness and ability to travel within Greater Sydney to collect resource and conduct interviews (approximately 4-5 days per year)

  • Current driver’s licence

  • Proficiency in using a range of software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and CRM

  • Strong work ethos

  • A personal Christian faith and willingness to work within an Anglican organisation
