Case Worker – Food and Financial Assistance – Liverpool

About the Role:






As costs for day-to-day expenses such as rent, food and power continue to rise, a setback such as sickness, loss of a job or an unexpected bill can make you feel your financial situation is getting out of control. Anglicare can provide immediate practical assistance and longer-term solutions to help our clients build a more hopeful future.




In this role you will respond to enquiries and provide initial intake, information and support to Food and Financial Assistance clients remotely and face-to-face. You will be ensuring effective delivery of client services, and a high level of customer service is achieved.






This is a Permanent Part-Time, 4 days a week role based in Liverpool.






Key Responsibilities (not limited to):






  • Ensures a welcoming and safe environment for FFA clients seeking assistance which demonstrates compassion and understanding.







  • Ensures case planning for clients is holistic and in-depth, with clearly defined goals and achievable outcomes.







  • Undertakes assessment of complex cases often involving multiple issues and identifies these issues.







  • Consults a Senior Caseworker or Program Manager around higher risk cases.







  • Ensures client involvement in case planning through collaboration and the use of mutual exchange principles, developing clearly defined and agreed goals, with actionable steps for both client and worker.







  • Ensures advocacy and referrals for appropriate additional client support are provided. Includes advocating for clients and drawing on networks and local connections. Supports clients to learn and implement Financial Literacy skills through the case planning process,







  • Ensures growth in own knowledge of and connection with local support services, and community networks, resulting in effective and accurate referrals.







  • May include engagement with local inter-agencies, outreach, church partnerships and other networking opportunities as they arise.







  • Ensures referral information gathered is up to date and accurate in Anglicare’s internal referral system and shared with local team.







  • Ensures provision of material aid to clients in line with case plans and FFA procedures.







  • Ensure a full client caseload is maintained, achieving program targets within funding guidelines and organisational procedures.









About you:






  • Relevant degree in Social Work, Community Services or similar with 1-2 years relevant experience or Diploma with relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience.







  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse, disadvantaged people groups, including domestic violence, culturally and linguistically diverse and First Nations people.







  • Have a solid understanding of Financial Capability and Case Work interventions









  • Strong people skills – the ability to connect with, understand and interact positively with colleagues, clients who are experiencing financial and community members.







  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.







  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office suite.







  • Strong time management and ability to prioritise workload.







  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of local networks and agencies.







  • A current driver's License and own vehicle or ability to travel around key locations in Sydney’s Southwest
