Teacher – French and Latin
Overview
We are looking to appoint a qualified, experienced, and passionate French and Latin teacher to
join our hugely successful and dynamic languages department. The successful candidate will be
fluent in French with an ability to teach Latin. The candidate will have a deep understanding of the
relevant syllabi and innovative pedagogical strategies to help support students in French and Latin.
Reports to: Head of Department – Languages
Status: Permanent part-time (or as negotiated)
Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
- be experienced in teaching French (Stage 6) and Latin (Stage 4 minimum)
- have experience with NSW curriculum
- contribute to writing, updating and developing resources and programs
- create and maintain an effective and safe learning environment for students
- demonstrate effective teaching practice which fosters student engagement and facilitates learning
within the area of foreign languages
- have appropriate tertiary qualifications and NESA accreditation
Personal qualities
- a passion for the teaching of languages
- an understanding of girls’ education, especially the teaching of talented students
- an enthusiastic and motivated team player
- excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships
- a willingness to embrace and enhance the Christian ethos and practice of Meriden, as an independent
Anglican School for girls
- loyal to the Principal and publicly supportive of her decisions.
