Join Our Team: Mental Health Practitioner – Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons

If so, we invite you to apply for the position of Mental Health Practitioner in Anglicare’s Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons team
Role Overview:
As a Mental Health Practitioner for the Emotional Wellbeing for Older Persons Program, you will play a vital role in providing counselling and holistic mental health support to our elderly clients living in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) across the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN region. Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, offering individual and group counselling sessions, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care. This is a remote job, traveling to see clients at multiple facilities within the Central and Eastern Sydney PHN region.
These positions are permanent full time, paid SCHADS award, level 5
Key responsibilities (not limited to):
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for older adults
- Develop personalised treatment plans tailored to each client's unique needs
- Provide individual and group counselling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and family members to ensure holistic care and support
- Advocate for the mental health needs of older adults within the RACF
- Ensure that participants are involved in implementing individual recovery plans as much as possible by facilitating and encouraging them to work toward goals and increase capacity to become more independent.
- Engage with staff of RACFs to market and promote the EWOP program and encourage their adoption of the program
Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications for the professions of Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor, Registered Nurse or equivalent.
- Minimum two years’ experience with counselling, psychotherapy, and/or other focused psychological strategies; including working with people with a mental health challenges and/or experience in the aged care sector
- Current membership to professional body (e.g. AHPRA, AASW or Australian Counselling Association or equivalent), continue to provide membership annually with employment.
- Current NSW Driver’s Licence and own comprehensively insured vehicle
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid NSW Working with Children’s Check for paid employment purposes, NDIS check and certification, Police check
