About the role

The role of the Level 1/2 Occupational Therapist (fixed-term full-time role until 30th June 2025) is to work within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure a high standard of Occupational Therapy service is provided to patients of the Hospital, along with appropriate support and advice to their carers. The Occupational Therapist will participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a patient-centred, evidence-based, continuous quality improvement work environment that is consistent with the values and ethics of HammondCare and Occupational Therapy Australia.

The essence of this role

• Provision of effective and efficient Occupational Therapy service to clients and appropriate support and advice to their carers


• Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing patients’ level of functional and care needs, setting care goals and providing appropriate treatment


• Participate as a member of the HammondCare team in the application of the organisation’s Mission and values to the pursuit of its objectives in a client-centred, continuous quality improvement work environment

About you

• A tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and registration as an Occupational Therapist with AHPRA


• Significant practical experience or Extensive Knowledge in providing Occupational Therapy Services in a Rehabilitation, Aged Care or Palliative Care setting. Experience across inpatient and outpatient/ community settings would be desirable


• A current driver’s licence and safe driving record


• Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services


• Effective communication and interpersonal skills


• Demonstrated organisation and time management skills


• Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team


• Experience in conducting home assessments and equipment prescription


• Empathy and patience
