About The Role
Anglicare is looking for a Seniors’ Life-Stage Educator as part of the Family and Life Skills Education Team (FLSE) to make a difference in the lives of people across the Sydney Diocese. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to partner with Anglican churches (and other key stakeholders) to equip, train and support people in aspects associated with the Seniors’ life-stage (65yrs plus).....
You could do this through the delivery of evidenced-based courses, workshops and resources. In addition, there is involvement in the coordination and teaching of Anglicare’s Introductory Pastoral Care Course (IPCC) in partnership with churches.
This is a Permanent Full-Time role with a flexibility to be located closer to home and the need to often travel to locations across the Sydney Anglican Diocese.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):
  • Ensures Anglicare resources people well to assist them, and\or others they know, to navigate and thrive in the ‘Seniors’ life stage (65yrs plus) by providing education and training programs to Anglican churches and (where suitable) other Christian organisations.
  • Ensures that Anglican churches, and other partner organisations can make informed decisions about available programs by providing sufficient and relevant program information in collaboration with Marketing, Community and Mission Leadership, and Partnership Development teams.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Program Manager, teaches IPCC and pastoral care workshops at times through-out the year.
  • Ensures all programs offered are appropriate to the needs of the recipients by undertaking adequate consultation with the end users and providing programs that are well documented and evidence based as far as possible.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of training and the delivery of programs by implementing feedback processes, reviewing data, and undertaking continuous improvement processes with end-users and stakeholders.
  • Contributes to effective working relationships with Anglican churches and other key partners, by collaborating with the Community and Mission Leadership, FLSE and PDT teams and appropriate people from Seniors’ Living and Residential Aged Care.
  • Ensures that all relationships with external providers/service partners have appropriate safeguards in place by providing written confirmation that clarifies the roles of all involved.
  • Contributes to the FLSE Team by engaging in the development and facilitation of programs outside identified areas of expertise, and being an active team member.
  • Contributes to resourcing and training of other Anglicare staff and programs, at the discretion of the Senior Program Manager.
About You
We are seeking a candidate who embodies enthusiasm and energy and is passionate about serving the community. The following skills and attributes will greatly contribute to your success in this role:
  • Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology, or equivalent e.g. in aged-care or counselling or nursing
  • Experience in paid work or voluntary work with people over 65yrs of age e.g. church setting, para-church ministry, non-government organisations, public or private health, Government.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in delivering psycho-educational courses and seminars related to matters in Senior’s life-stage such as grief and loss, major life transitions, grandparenting, physical and mental health and wellbeing, ‘MyAge Cared’ system and in the areas of pastoral care and/or caring for others.
  • Theological study at Certificate Level or above would be an asset
  • Current NSW Driver’s License
  • Valid NSW Working with Children’s Check
