  • Greenwich Hospital (Lower-North Shore),

  • Neringah Hospital (Northern Suburbs), and

  • Mona Vale Community Palliative Care Services (Northern Beaches)

Summary of Role


The role of Staff Specialist Palliative Medicine is permanent part-time 20 hours per week and works within the HammondCare Mission in Action to ensure that the Northern Beaches Hospital Palliative Care service provides safe, evidence-based quality care.



The essence of this role



  • Provide demonstrably high-quality specialist Palliative Care services

  • To maintain personal professional competence in Palliative Care

  • To work within healthcare teams and with other senior medical staff in a cooperative and collegiate way, evidencing the Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action of HammondCare

  • Undertake teaching of medical students and trainee doctors, and undertake research in Palliative Care as opportunities present



Selection Criteria



  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with AHPRA

  • Applicants must have Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM) of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians or have provisionally completed specialist training and is eligible to be recognised as a specialist within 6 months

  • Credentialed experience in multidisciplinary specialist practice in consultative settings

  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement and clinical risk management, actively seek out improvements to service delivery, initiate change and consult those affected by the change, allocate resources and proactively manage potential conflicts

  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with effective communication skills

  • Demonstrate participation in ongoing professional development and a commitment to education and research and evidence-based practice

  • Current Driver’s Licence
