We are looking for a full-time Clinical Nurse Educator to join our professional and dedicated Care Quality and Compliance team within The Salvation Army Aged Care. This position is Sydney based with travel only within the Greater Sydney and Newcastle area.

ABOUT THE ROLE


The Care Quality and Compliance (CQC) comprises a team of clinical specialists that assist in the design, implementation, monitoring and ongoing improvement of compliance related activities for our residential aged care and home and community divisions. The CQC team also design, implement, monitor and review clinical training programs in order to ensure the highest standard of clinical knowledge of our staff. Our collaborative CQC team consists of:


  • General Manager Care Quality & Compliance
  • Manager - Clinical Systems and Data Analytics
  • Clinical Procedures and Strategic Development Specialist
  • Manager - Clinical Procedures and Practice Excellence
  • Manager - Aged Care Advocate and Complaints
  • Manager - Accreditation, Compliance and Clinical Risk
  • 2 x Clinical Nurse Educator

The Clinical Nurse Educator will report to the Manager - Clinical Procedures and Practice Excellence to assist with the development of education programs and provide clinical training to the portfolio of aged care centres nationally. The CNE will mentor clinicians and provide workplace support in clinical education and competency development with a particular focus on less-experienced clinicians.



In this role you will:

  • Provide direct clinical training at the site level that supports learning and professional standards of practice ensuring staff understand their role and scope of practice.
  • Act as a mentor/role model for staff to undertake learning and competency assessments that support the achievement of an appropriately skilled workforce.

  • Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate clinical teaching and education programs that are evidenced based, meet identified learning gaps and priorities.
  • Utilise a range of educational and learning strategies to facilitate the development of competency within individuals to deliver competent nursing care.
  • Provide coordination and support for transitional nurses ensuring they are able to apply their learning to clinical practice in a supported environment.
  • Collaborate with management, individual/s and multidisciplinary team members to facilitate adult learning education and training environment utilising effective communication and negotiation skills to ensure operational requirements and support the provision of person-centred quality care.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Current Unrestricted Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
  • Relevant clinical or education post registration qualification/s
  • Relevant experience in aged care and or current clinical nursing experience
  • Ability to prepare, deliver and evaluate clinical education programs to geographically dispersed teams
  • Effective liaison, negotiation and communication skills and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Computer literacy- Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, ability to collect and analyse data
