Our Lady of Mercy College is seeking to appoint an outstanding educator who is passionate about faith and formation to the role of Director of Identity.



Who are we?

Our Lady of Mercy College (OLMC), Parramatta is a leading Catholic independent school for girls established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1889. The College is located within a dynamic educational precinct in North Parramatta.



The opportunity

The Director of Identity is a member of the College Leadership Team and responsible, together with the Principal, for integrating the Catholic mission and OLMC's Mercy values throughout the College.

The position plays an integral role in nurturing the faith of our students, collaborating with staff, students and parents to create meaningful experiences that ensure our Catholic identity is woven into the fabric of daily life at the College.

By collaborating with the College Leadership Team and other stakeholders, the Director of Identity ensures that prayer, social justice initiatives, and religious practices are appropriately embedded into the school culture. The Director of Identity has a key partnership with the Sisters of Mercy in supporting their community.


What will you do?

As Director of Identity, you will undertake duties as directed by the Principal, in collaboration with the Deputy Principal:

  • Be responsible for the, leading, developing, planning and coordinating opportunities for students to live and enrich their faith through prayer and liturgy, retreat experiences, leadership formation and community activities aligned with OLMC Mercy values.
  • Support young adult faith development initiatives and experiences by working with neighbouring Parishes and other agencies, including Mercy organisations.
  • Lead social justice and charity initiatives and overseeing their development and managing the College's charitable work undertaken for organisations promoting Gospel values.
  • Contribute to deepening the understanding of Catholic tradition as a Mercy College and to building a faith community by bringing Catholic perspective to all aspects of the role including engaging with the Mercy charism and role modelling the OLMC Mercy values.
  • Organise and promote resources to support the prayer life of the College.
  • Required to teach Religious Education.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by the Principal.


What are we looking for?

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications and accreditation to teach in NSW.
  • A strong commitment to and understanding of Catholic identity in the context of OLMC with a demonstrated ability to foster this across the College community.
  • Capacity to actively support and lead the life of the College, the Catholic mission and OLMC Mercy values.
  • Experience in supervising, coaching and mentoring staff and students.
  • Understanding of issues within the independent education sector, and contemporary educational settings.
  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment as a member of a leadership team and respect personal, private and confidential matters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in small and large group situations.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with students, parents, staff and community organisers.
  • A current Working with Children Check number.



Reporting relationships

  • The Director of Identity is responsible to the Principal
  • The Director of Identity reporting Manager is the Deputy Principal
  • The role has supervision of a full-time Administrative Assistant
