English Minister

We are seeking an English-speaking minister to preach, pastor, evangelise and lead a small, faithful, ethnically Chinese, English-speaking congregation in Sutherland.

• Opportunity to renew to a permanent contract position at the end of the 12-month period subject to a review (Employment details of the permanent contract position to be determined).

Position Overview:

Our church is currently seeking an English Minister to oversee the English congregation.

The Minister will focus on leading the English congregation in various ministries including:

• Preaching
• Pastoral care
• Evangelism
• Leadership

The Minister will collaborate with church deacons, committees and wider pastoral team to set plans in order to accomplish the church's vision.

Applicants must be a capable spiritual leader and have strong people skills.

Key Accountabilities:

• Uphold our church's constitution including doctrinal statement.
• Faithfully preach and teach the Bible to our congregation.
• Oversee and support the children and youth ministries.
• Discipling our members to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
• Provide spiritual support, guidance and training to existing and upcoming leaders.
• Actively proclaim the Gospel to our local community, bringing people across all age groups to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour.
• Nurture new Christians to build a strong foundation in the knowledge and understanding of God’s word in the Bible.
• Collaborate with the pastoral team, deacons and committees to implement church mission and vision and develop goals and action plans to fulfill them.
• Collaborate with deacons to manage ministry administration and oversee church discipline matters.
• Schedule and manage the preaching roster.
• Pastoral visitations to members of the congregation

Pastor Requirements:

• Strong relationship and faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
• Spiritually mature leader and good team player. 3+ years relevant ministry experience in particular with youth ministry and guiding small group leaders highly desirable.
• Obtained Bachelor level or above theological education from a recognized bible college or institution (Final year student applications would be considered).
• Language: English – Fluent; Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) – desirable
• Strong ability to articulate clearly and communicate effectively.
• Strong people skills with a loving and gentle nature to patiently interact, care for and connect with people from different cultural backgrounds and stages in life.
• Strong organisational skills.
• Must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance number.
• Proficient with MS Office applications and social media.
• Australian Citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency status required.
