About Us

St Philip’s is:

  • A local, community based Anglican Church;
  • Made up of a variety of worship styles and faith expressions;
  • A tight knit church family;
  • With a strong heritage of discipleship and evangelism among children and youth;
  • Seeking to live out God’s will for us as His Church;
  • And embed ourselves in our local community to witness to Jesus

St Philip’s has three Sunday gatherings for worship: a traditional communion service at 8am, a contemporary worship service with kids’ programs at 10am, and an all-age modern worship service at 5pm, with associated youth programs.

St Philip’s has thriving kids’ and youth programs on Friday afternoons and evenings, a great number of gifted and passionate leaders in kids’ and youth ministry, and a solid community of young adults. St Philip’s runs a summer kids’ outreach program, Green Tent, and a Pupil Free Day program which are highly regarded by our local community, and attract an attendance of 60-90 kids.

The Role

The primary goal of the Kids' Pastor is to introduce children (aged from birth to the end of primary school) and their families to Jesus, and develop and oversee clear and effective pathways for them to grow in their knowledge and love of him.

The core ministry responsibilities are to:

  • Exercise oversight of the discipleship program for children from birth to the end of primary school;
  • Foster a sense of Christian community among school-aged children as they progress through infancy, childhood, and pre-teen years;
  • Coordinate, lead, and oversee our Sunday and Friday kids' programs (King’s Kids, Little Lights, Spin Kids);
  • Select relevant curriculum material for all kids' programs;
  • Recruit, equip and mentor our volunteer kids' ministry leaders in partnership with the ministry team;
  • Plan and leading special events, camps, and outreach activities that seek to reach primary school aged children with the gospel (Green Tent, pupil free days, Easter & Christmas Services);
  • Ensure that Safe Ministry policies and practices are implemented and adhered to;
  • Contribute to the work of the ministry team in general pastoral oversight of the church, and mission to the parish;
  • Potentially be involved in or lead the following programs, depending on suitability and working days:
    • SRE at Turramurra Public School (Wednesdays);
    • Mainly Music (Mondays)

About You

  • You must be a wholehearted and devoted disciple of Jesus, who has been soundly discipled and trained in the truth of the gospel, and who will speak from the overflow of your heart
  • You must be gifted by the Holy Spirit to disciple and evangelise young children, along with their families, in the faith
  • You must have passionate, heartfelt, Spirit-inspired enthusiasm to see young children within the household of God grow up in the faith and grow in their intimate knowledge of God, and to see lost children in our parish community come to meet Jesus for themselves
  • You don’t necessarily need to have extensive formal training or qualifications in education or ministry. If you’re not formally trained in these areas, you must be willing to undertake training concurrent with this role, and be eager to develop the relevant gifts God has given you
  • This role could suit someone who is studying, or working part time in another capacity, or who is working part time in the home
  • You must be eager to become an active, engaged, and enmeshed part of the body of our church, and the broader fabric of our community
  • We expect this role will suit someone who is already living somewhere in the region of our parish
  • You must be able to be licensed by the Archbishop for parish ministry, and meet all Safe Ministry requirements
  • You must be eligible to reside and work in Australia
