The Diocese of Parramatta is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Lead Facilitator to join our team on a full-time fixed-term 2-year contract with the view to extend if required.

About the Role:

The Lead Facilitator of Implementation is a key leadership position, following the mandate of the Bishop of Parramatta, to oversee and support the successful implementation of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan for a Synodal Church. This individual will collaborate closely with key diocesan leaders to ensure alignment between the pastoral priorities identified in the plan with the work of chancery, parishes, schools, and agencies across the diocese.

The role requires exceptional strategic thinking, project management skills, relationship building, and ability to lead a team.

This role reports to the Chancellor for Ministries.

Key Accountabilities:

  • To coordinate and enact the ongoing implementation of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan for a Synodal Church across the Diocese of Parramatta.
  • To nurture a culture of synodality through formation and training, particularly in the art and spirituality of deep listening, discernment and decision-making.
  • To provide the vision for and strategies ensuring accountability of the implementation of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan for a Synodal Church across chancery, councils, parishes, schools, agencies and relevant networks across the Diocese.
  • To establish and build strong relationships with senior leaders across the diocese, working to identifying key areas of alignment and opportunities for the implementation of the Pastoral Plan
  • To honour and deepen the work towards a Synodal Church in the Diocese of Parramatta
  • To ensure that the Diocesan commitment to the โ€˜non-negotiablesโ€™ are upheld over the Implementation period

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Catholic theology, pastoral ministry, leadership and/or religious education.
  • Current Driver's License
  • Current Working with Children Check Clearance
  • Police clearance
  • Working rights in Australia

Skills, Knowledge, Attributes

  • 5 to 8 yearsโ€™ senior leadership experience working in the Catholic church
  • Demonstrated understanding of Church structures, particularly within a Diocesan context
  • Demonstrated experience in pastoral and ministerial work of the church
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Strong ability to influence and motivate people towards common vision and goal
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Sound understanding of theology and synodality
