Your Opportunity
Mission Australia is seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented Manager, Risk Partnering, to lead and refine our risk and insurance strategies across the organisation. In this critical role, you will serve as a key advisor, providing second-line assurance and expert risk support to our Board, Board Audit & Risk Committee, and Executive Team. Your leadership will extend to guiding Housing and Community Services teams, ensuring they are well-equipped to manage and mitigate risks effectively.

As the custodian of our Risk Management Policy & Procedure, you will be responsible for its ongoing development, implementation, and integration into every facet of our operations. Additionally, you will oversee the organisation's insurance program, ensuring comprehensive coverage, optimising insurance policies, and managing relationships with insurers to protect Mission Australia's assets and operations This is an exceptional opportunity to play a central role in safeguarding Mission Australia's mission and values while driving operational maturity and resilience across the organisation. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Responsible for the design, implementation and oversight of Mission Australia's risk management policies and procedures
  • The development and implementation of risk management process across the Housing and Community Services Leadership teams
  • Delivery of Training to Mission Australia staff/services to ensure risk management practices are embedded in the organisation
  • Ensure Risk management policies and procedures are regularly reviewed and improved
  • Ensure risks identified across the organisation are reviewed, managed and escalated in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the insurance framework is fit-for-purpose and implemented including the renewal of insurance policies.
  • Claims management oversight is undertaken including reporting and analysis to the Executive Committee and where required Board Audit and Risk Committee
  • Responsible for developing a relationship model aimed at a structured and planned approach to the identification of, and engagement with, key Mission Australia Stakeholders, including Executive and Board members
  • Ensure a stakeholder engagement plan is in place with key stakeholders identified and a planned approach in place
  • Identify staff skills development and training needs and taking appropriate action
  • Overall responsibility for risk management and bringing subject matter expertise to the development and maintenance of the Mission Australia risk management system
  • Produce high quality reports/dashboards are produced for various Senior Leaders, Committees and Boards and as required for specific purposes
  • Leading the continuous review, refinement and development of risk management processes to ensure consistency in operation and effectiveness in application


Requirements for Success

  • Minimum 5 - 10 years of risk management experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
  • Experience in managing insurance programs
  • Experience working in Community Services/Not for Profit Organisations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of relevant national and international standards and current best practices
  • Demonstrated success in collaboration and building strong, respectful and robust relationships
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity
  • Demonstrate courage in leadership to confront issues and risks and escalate as appropriate in accordance with procedure
  • Attention to detail, analytical ability, excellent report writing and relationship management skills
