We are actively sourcing an experienced National Director of Pastoral Care to join our Mission team in St Vincent's Health Australia (SVHA). This is a significant opportunity to join Australia's largest not-for-profit health and aged care system to uplift and expand the profile and experience of pastoral care.

In this role, you will lead and influence St Vincent's Pastoral Care Managers and design and develop St Vincent's Pastoral Care strategy that drives transformation, enhances our positive impact and creates the future of connected health and aged care for our organisation.

Reporting to the Group Mission Leader, you will use your creativity and expertise to elevate our approach to pastoral care by working collaboratively across St Vincent's, leading the design of consistent standards of excellence and finding innovative solutions to challenges across our pastoral care teams.

We are seeking an enthusiastic leader with proven excellence in delivering and coordinating pastoral care within a health or aged care setting. You will have exceptional communication, organisational, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, which you will use to lead a national portfolio through complexity and change.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Cultivate strong relationships across the organisation, reflecting St Vincent's mission and values
  • Provide high quality leadership and management of state-based pastoral care managers
  • Work collaboratively with clinical and business stakeholders to drive nationally recognised standards of excellence in pastoral care
  • Lead the development and implementation of a national approach to pastoral care that connects teams across the organisation and delivers on St Vincent's mission and strategy
  • Establish St Vincent's reputation as an employer and educator of choice in pastoral care
  • Design and implement an evaluation framework and appropriate reporting mechanisms
  • Lead and motivate your team, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance
  • Contribute to the broader discipline and professionalization of pastoral care

Things that work for us:

  • Significant experience in health and aged care settings, with a proven track record of success in leading organisational change in pastoral care
  • Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively
  • Great sense of personal and professional continuous improvement, always looking at the future of pastoral care
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Word and Excel
  • High-level presentation, written and oral communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences
  • Highly developed organisational skills including time management and prioritisation of multiple tasks while working to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) or equivalent training
