St Edmund’s College, Wahroonga is a Catholic Co-educational College in the Edmund Rice tradition from Years 5 -12 and caters for students with a sensory disability and/or a mild to moderate intellectual disability. St Edmund’s College offers small classes, excellent facilities and provides personalised NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA) education programs. We are seeking applicants for the following position:

Stage 3 Teacher - Full time permanent position -

Beginning Term 1, 2025

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA 

  • Commitment to the Catholic and Edmund Rice ethos of the school.  
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the school’s Vision and Mission, Strategic Goals and the EREA Charter Touchstones.  
  • Sound knowledge of Stage 3 special education evidence-based practices and pedagogy. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, carers, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal student outcomes. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to student wellbeing. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships.  
  • Effective planning and organisational skills, including time management. 
  • Collaborative team member.   
  • Proven competence with use of technology in a learning environment and in implementing NESA curriculum. 
  • An understanding of current educational issues, curriculum requirements and assessment. 
  • Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality.  
  • Appropriate qualification and demonstrated expertise in relevant subject area(s), including post graduate studies in Special Education.  
  • Current Teaching Registration with NESA. 
  • Participation in field trips/excursion, co-curricular activities and camps.  
  • Current Class C drivers’ licence 
  • Willingness to drive a 12-seater school bus.  
  • Current WWCC Number and commitment to child protection practices.   
  • A commitment to creating an environment where the safety, wellbeing and participation of all children and young people is paramount. 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA 

  • Knowledge of teaching students with sensory disabilities. 
  • Implementation and development of whole school initiatives.  
  • Evidence of relevant and recent professional development. 
  • Current Light Rigid (LR) drivers’ licence. 

Applicants should hold high expectations for teaching students with special needs and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues.
