We offer a range of services including Harm Reduction and Primary Health Services as well as a range of treatment types (including residential treatment centres, community-based support programs, counselling, and withdrawal management services).

William Booth House (WBH) is located on Gadigal lands in Surry Hills. It offers a withdrawal unit and residential rehabilitation. The services operate in a four-storey building with roof top courtyard, which is wheelchair accessible and easily accessible by all forms of public transport.

About the role

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Worker to welcome and support participants through the process of alcohol and other drug withdrawal and residential rehabilitation.

Reporting to the Senior Support Worker, this is a permanent, full-time position based at William Booth House in Surry Hills. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the SCHADS award Level 3.

The successful applicant must be available to work shifts across a 24/7 roster including, Morning, Afternoon & Night.

You will successfully

  • Assist case workers to address participant needs, administer the program, contribute to case plans, educational group facilitation and provide supervision & support to participants.
  • Undertake ad-hoc duties as requested by Centre Manager or Senior Support Workers
  • Complete all administration and inspection requirements in a timely manner.
  • Supervise the self- administration of medication & drug testing as required.

You will have

  • A certificate IV in a relevant discipline (or working towards).
  • A current NSW Driver Licence.
  • A current First Aid Certificate.
  • Knowledge of AOD/Gambling, Community Services and Health Sectors.
  • An understanding of the requirements of working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
  • An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing AOD and Gambling related issues, mental ill health and other disabilities.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and religions.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising de-escalation techniques.
  • Sound computer literacy.
