The Sydney Grammar School Teacher Scholarship Programme

An undergraduate and postgraduate coursework scholarship for full-time education students in their final year of study. This scholarship offers students a unique opportunity to work at a prestigious and selective Independent School in the Sydney CBD.

Our Teacher Scholarship Programme is designed to provide a high-quality practical experience for final year pre-service education students in either a primary or a secondary setting at one of our three campuses. Our programme is accessible for both Bachelor and Master candidates in their final year of initial teacher education attending any New South Wales university.

Background

The Sydney Grammar School Teacher Scholarship Programme has been established to offer initial teacher education students a unique opportunity to work at an academically selective Independent School in the Sydney CBD.

The Scholarship will be awarded to a student with an excellent academic record who can contribute to the curricular and co-curricular life of the School.

This Scholarship is funded by Sydney Grammar School.

Benefits

This scholarship is valued at $20,000 per annum for a full-time bachelor's degree recipient, tenable for up to one year or for a full-time master’s degree recipient, tenable for up to nine months.

You must:

  • be planning to be enrolled full-time in the final year in 2025 in one of the following degrees:
    • Master of Teaching (Primary or Secondary Education)
    • Bachelor of Education (Primary or Secondary Education)
  • have a valid Working With Children Check, First Aid and CPR qualification.
  • have a valid working visa or citizenship to work in Australia.

You must also be willing to:

  • take part in the School's onboarding and induction process,
  • spend one day a week at the School during school terms I, II and III (bachelor degree only),
  • undertake an unpaid internship at the School during school term IIII (bachelor degree only),
  • spend one day a week at the School for school terms I and II (masters degree only),
  • undertake an unpaid internship at the School during school term III (masters degree only),
  • receive guidance from a mentor teacher,
  • participate in academic, pastoral and co-curricular activities at the School as directed.
