3-year Promotional Appointment (2025 - 2027) + full time permanent teaching position - Commence Term 1, 2025.

Commencing in January 2025, this is a tremendous opportunity to join our middle leadership team as Year Coordinator (Stage 3).Reporting directly to the Director of Middle School (Year 5 to Year 8), you will be a highly experienced and accomplished educator and able to provide proactive, high-quality leadership and management of the staff associated with the year group. You will be passionately focused towards ensuring the welfare of students, guiding their development and nurturing their academic, spiritual, emotional, social and physical wellbeing.

This is a 2-point paid position with time release of 0.3FTE and is offered as a 3-year Promotional Appointment (2025 - 2027), held in addition to a permanent teaching position.

The role of the Year Coordinator is the leadership of a specific year group including but not limited to, the academic care, management of student behaviour and wellbeing of students. They are also responsible for the leadership of the staff associated with that year group.

In undertaking this middle leadership position, it is expected that the successful applicant will:

  • Promote the four Touchstonesof the Charter for Catholic Schools in the Edmund Rice tradition.
  • Demonstrate excellence as a classroom teacher and encourage a spirit of excellence, responsibility, cooperation and oversee recording, management, and follow-up in TASS regarding student wellbeing within the cohort.
  • Be well-versed and have an in-depth understanding of child safeguarding response and reporting obligations.
  • Work with College structures to address the needs of all students within the year group.
  • Assist in the creation of a safe environment where students are not judged on the basis of race, or academic ability.
  • Communicate with parents/teachers /students’ areas of concern as soon as they arise.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate you satisfy the following selection criteria:

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of appropriate behaviours and professional boundaries that reflect child safeguarding values in practice.
  • Qualified Primary Teacher or Secondary Teacher (notesubject/s you are qualified to teach) withNESA Accreditationand approval to teach in NSW.
  • Demonstrated excellence as a classroom practitioner.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current wellbeing frameworks and research-based approaches to wellbeing in schools.
  • Broad understanding of contemporary educational issues with a specific focus on the link between curriculum (learning) and student wellbeing.
  • A strong interest in, and demonstrated ability to, develop connectedness and positive relationships with students in relation to their wellbeing and learning.
  • Excellent rapport building, networking and relationship management experience.
  • Well organised, self-motivated, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to provide proactive, high-quality leadership and management of a team and capacity to work harmoniously with teams, whether in supervisory, collegial or advisory contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated capacity to communicate clearly with students, colleagues and the wider community regarding educational and wellbeing issues.
  • A willingness to lead faith formation activities with their cohort.

Desirable Criteria

  • Postgraduate qualifications (in leadership, education,wellbeing,religious education or theology).

A working understanding of, and a commitment to the Catholic ethos of a school in the Edmund Rice tradition, a valid Working with Children clearance and participation in the co-curricular program, are essential conditions of employment.

Evidence of a valid WWCC clearance will be required prior to employment.
